Hi Willem,
This is an email to say a HUGE thank you to you. I've loved horses all my life and always dreamed of owning one of my own, so understandably when my dad announced last year we were buying a farm I was thrilled at the idea of finally having horses! But after a couple of weeks of having Poppy and Merlot I was disheartened, I was finding horse ownership difficult, confusing and unrewarding. I'd had a fall, Merlot seemed to resent me every time I brought him in from the paddock, and Poppy was a nightmare! Then you came along and reignited my love for it all! Merlot and I are well on our way to developing the kind of bond I have always dreamed of, and horse ownership is shaping up to be everything I'd imagined it would be. Poppy, Merlot and Danny and are an absolute joy now that I am learning how to properly and safely handle them. Thanks so much for everything you've taught me so far! On this note I would love to ask you to also be my riding instructor, and I'm excited to see how our groundwork will translate into our ridden work! My current riding instructor Kate is lovely but I want to continue to go in the natural horsemanship direction with Merlot.
This Friday I thought we could hopefully do some ridden work with Merlot as well as our groundwork. Thanks Willem, see you Friday. Ally :)
A couple of months ago we bought a miniature pony as a paddock buddy for our stockhorse. Little did we know what we got ourselves in for! Although he was only 4 months old when we bought him, he worked out very quickly that he could be boss of us, our dogs, and our chickens!!! The only one he couldn't boss around was our big horse, but we were running scared of him a lot of the time! He bit, kicked, was food aggressive, and not a nice horse to have around. I was planning to sell him when I thought I would give him one last try and try a horse trainer. I got in contact with Willem (Soul Horse) who came out to do a free evaluation on him. He gave us two things to work on with him, and within a day or two we had a different horse!! Willem came back for another session about a week later, and we had our little man lunging, walking through a hoop, and bowing!! Wow! We are loving training him, and he is now lovely to have around! It's been the best time and money we could've spent! With perseverance, and Willem's help, we have changed our terror into a pleasure! He might make a trick/show pony yet!!!
